Hello bookworms! I’m so excited! Have you guys seen the release of the book challenges for BookTubeAThon because I have, and I’m hyped! BookTubeAThon is taking place from July 30, 2018 at the stroke of midnight wherever you live to August 5, 2018 at midnight. I’m actually going to be traveling during this time, so I’m going to try my best to complete these challenges, but also take as little books as possible. What are the challenges you may ask? Well here they are!
2018 Reading Challenges:
1/ Let a coin toss decide your first read.
For this challenge, I chose to flip a coin between The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas which was heads and The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh which was tails. My coin landed on tails, so I will be reading The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh, and I’m super excited! I just found this at a library sale and bought it for a dollar in near perfect condition.
2/ Read a book about something you want to do.
For this book, I didn’t choose the most realistic thing, but I have always wanted to travel to space or to a planet, so I chose The Martian by Andy Weir. I’ve watched the movie adaption of this book and adored it, so I’m excited to read the book and hopefully enjoy it as well.
3/ Read and watch a book to movie adaptation.
For this challenge I decided to choose The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. I haven’t watched or read a Nicholas Sparks related book/movie in a long time. I’m kind of in the mood for a war time love story. Also, I’m pretty sure this is the movie Zac Efron is in, so that’s a plus.
4/ Read a book with green on the cover.
For this I chose Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I’ve been craving Nicholas Sparks lately and I’m not sure why. But I’m hoping I’ll enjoy it! I’ll probably watch the movie to this too after reading it.
5/ Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time.
For this challenge I decided to choose Stealing Parker by Miranda Kenneally. This book just sounds like a nice quick contemporary read for the summer. I’ll probably read it on the plane and get it through it really fast. I love a good sports romance, and nothing says sports more than a cute baseball hat.
6/ Read a book with a beautiful spine.
For this I chose Letters to Zell by Camille Griep. This book is a fairytale retelling/spinoff story. I picked it up mainly for this reason and the beautiful cover and spine. I’m hoping I can get into it because the last time I picked it up I just couldn’t.
7/ Read seven books.
Last but not least, to get to a total of 7 books, my seventh book for this readathon is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about this book. Not only that, but the whole premise of the book sounds so interesting. I have a feeling I’m going to love it.
